ARTIST BIO

Claudia, is a Colombian-born Australian painter based in Gosford. She is an autodidactic realism artist who developed her practice through rigorous independent study, focusing on detail, form, and the subtle nuances of light and texture. Primarily works with synthetic polymer paint and mixed media on canvas. Her work today demonstrates resilience, grace and the remarkable power of creativity to illuminate unexpected paths.

Claudia’s work has been featured in the 20x20 Art Exhibition 2024 and 2025 at the Gosford Regional Gallery. She won the People’s Choice award for two consecutive years and her work is now held in private collections. She also participated in the Central Coast 2024 Mental Health Art Work Exhibition, where she won two awards: Second Place and People’s Choice.  Claudia recently won First Place in the Works On Canvas category at the 55th Summer Exhibition & Awards.

Selected as a jury member for the Women in Art Exhibition 2026 and is a current member of the Central Coast Art Society.

Her artistic journey began in childhood, inspired by her father’s paintings. Creativity became a natural part of her life, though it temporarily took a backseat to studies and a career in dentistry. Painting remained a quiet companion, a heartfelt way to express love and gratitude for family and friends through handmade gifts.

After completing a second dental degree and re-establishing her career in Australia, an accident affecting her dominant hand resulted in a permanent disability. She subsequently underwent a prolonged period of physical and emotional recovery.

During this time, painting re-entered her life with renewed significance. What started as therapy became a powerful source of healing, strength, and self-discovery. Through art, Claudia found a renewed sense of purpose, transforming adversity into beauty. She transformed creativity into detail, resilience into colour, and emotion into form.

Currently, Claudia is exploring and refining her creative technique through workshops and tutorials while developing new artworks for upcoming exhibitions.
